Sandyhills Bay

Warm Sea, Soft Sand and Rugged Cliffs

Lying peacefully on the mouth of the Solway Firth on Scotland’s most southern coast, Sandyhills Bay combines unspoilt beauty with a unique selection of things to do for the family.

Without doubt the main attraction is the beach itself. The wide arc of soft sand suits sunbathers and castle builders alike, and is gently lapped by shallow waters at high tide. Summer sea temperatures can even be Mediterranean! When the tide goes out, miles of sand flats appear and demand to be explored – but make sure you get back before the tide turns!

Set back from the beach, about 5 minutes walk away, is Barend where you will find Thistle Lodges. Everything on this page can be found within walking distance of the lodges. See the Attractions page for lots more to do a little further afield.
